Founded in 1934, the Electric Railroaders’ Association, Inc. (ERA) is a non-profit educational organization consisting of people from all walks of life interested in the history and progress of electric railways.
As a member in good standing you’ll receive the ERA’s magazine, Headlights, currently published twice a year. You are invited to attend the ERA’s national convention, held yearly in a North American city with electric rail operations. If you are conducting research you may take advantage of the ERA’s extensive collection of electric railway literature and images at its Frank Julian Sprague Memorial Library. ERA dues for 2010 are $35.
The directors and membership committees of the Electric Railroaders’ Association, Inc. and of the New York Division, ERA, Inc. are cooperating again to make renewal easier by offering members a Joint Renewal Notice and Remittance Coupon for 2010 dues (link to PDF below). ERA members and others may also use the coupon to pay 2010 dues to the Light Rail Transit Association and to subscribe to LRTA publications.
All dues and other charges can be paid with one check, payable to ERA and mailed to:
Electric Railroaders’ Association, Inc.
P.O. Box 3323
Grand Central Station
New York, N.Y. 10163-3323
There are two ways to be part of the New York Division: membership and subscription, both $50 for 2010. ERA membership is required for Division membership, but not for a subscription. Subscribers enjoy all the benefits of membership, but are not entitled to vote in Division elections. If you are a New York Division subscriber only, you may forward the remittance coupon with a check payable to New York Division, ERA, Inc., to:

New York, N.Y. 10008-3001
You do not have to be a member of the Electric Railroaders’ Association to receive Tramways & Urban Transit. If you subscribe through the ERA, you will save $5 and also become a member of the Light Rail Transit Association, a British organization, for the 2010 calendar year. Published monthly by LRTA, Tramways & Urban Transit features light rail and rapid transit systems around the world. It is jam-packed with both historic items and current news, and includes book reviews. This 40-page magazine is printed in the metric A4 format (296mm x 208mm). Tramways & Urban Transit is an excellent publication, and a definite must for traction fans. LRTA membership and a subscription to T&UT is $102 for 2010.
Tramway Review, a quarterly magazine of British (and Irish) tramway history also published by LRTA, may be ordered through ERA at an additional $5 saving when subscribing to Tramways & Urban Transit and is distributed with the March, June, September and December issues of T&UT.
All LRTA publications are shipped by air. When you join LRTA or subscribe to its publications here, you can pay in U.S. dollars. Please remember to include your LRTA membership number if you are renewing.
