The presenter of our September meeting will be John Pappas. John will salute the Summer of 1964 with images and movies of New York City rail systems, including New York Central and New Haven commuter service, the LIRR at Jamaica, the Staten Island Rapid Transit, including the long-gone surface crossing in New Dorp, and a bit of the subway system. We’ll also take a glimpse at what the Chicago “L” looked like that summer and revisit Cleveland and Shaker Heights, including later images of Shaker in the early GCRTA days, when they were running maximum service. If time permits, John will also take a look at The Hague in the Netherlands and Brussels, Belgium. Please join us for an unforgettable presentation!
