Jack May returned to Turkey for the third time in April 2011. His slideshow for our January meeting will feature new developments in Istanbul, with scenes that include all four streetcar lines and the light metro. Several brand new Turkish systems were inaugurated in the past two years, including Samsun, Kayseri, Adana, Gaziantep and Antalya. These will be shown, as well as some old favorites, including Konya, Eskisehir and Ankara. Jack also rode Turkey’s new high-speed railroad and will show some views of that operation in its infancy. If time permits, the evening will be completed with views of the light metros in Izmir and Bursa. Turkey is booming with new electric streetcar lines.
