Glenn Smith

November 20, 2009

We should probably call our November program a holiday season variety show. Presented by Glenn Smith (ERA #5179), it will feature scenes of various railroads and transit lines, particularly in the Northeast region. Vintage scenes, emphasizing obscure locations not presented in many years, will be included. Rather than concentrate on a particular subject, Glenn will rove from place to place. One highlight will be vintage views of the N.Y. Central’s West Side elevated freight line which ran from 34th Street to St. John’s Park Terminal on Spring Street. Abandoned in 1980 and partially dismantled, the High Line was reopened as a city park on June 9 (section 1 runs from Gansevoort Street to 20th Street). Please join us for a most enjoyable evening!
