Our May presentation will be a fantastic digital slideshow by Paul Gawkowski. Paul will cover many rail systems from China and the U.S. including:
- The Beijing Metro and the Beijing Dang Dang heritage tram;
- The Shanghai Metro and a ride on the Shanghai Maglev line;
- A look at the world’s longest monorail system in Chonkqing, the world’s largest city;
- A river cruise thru the Yangtze Three Gorges and the Yangtze River funiculars.
From a trip to Colorado last fall, Paul will show the Manitou and Pike’s Peak Railway (also known as the Pikes Peak Cog Railway), the Rio Grande Scenic Railroad, the Cumbres and Toltec Scenic Railroad and the Durango and Silverton Narrow Gauge Railroad (D&SNG). There will be a side trip on Amtrak’s Vermonter before returning to Los Angeles, where Paul will present a look at the Metro’s latest extension of the Expo Line to Culver City and the Orange Line Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) to the Chatsworth Metrolink/Amtrak Station.
