2010 Meetings

Ray Berger

October 29, 2010

October’s entertainment will be a slideshow of public transportation in Germany, presented by ERA second vice president Ray Berger. Ray will examine and compare urban rail concepts such as Tram-Train and Train-Tram operations. We’ll see how improvements such as these, which have been offered to passengers in these cities for more than 10 years, could be used here in the U.S.

Ray’s introductory historical background will explain the transportation development of Nuernberg, Augsburg, Wurzburg, Karlsruhe, Kassel, Saarbruecken, Nordhausen, as well as Dresden, Leipzig and Magdeburg and a sampling of recently privatized German rail services. His introduction will also include a glimpse at the 150th and 175th Anniversary celebrations marking the start of the Germany’s first railroad in Nuernberg.

Public transportation in the U.S. is in great need of improvement. Those attending this informative meeting will become better armed to advocate for the future implementation of services such as those in Germany. Be sure to join us.
