The ERA is pleased to announce our 30th annual guided tour of Grand Central Terminal on Saturday, July 28, 2012. This magnificent terminal, officially dedicated on February 2, 1913, is now better than ever after comprehensive restoration work several years back.
Representatives of Metro-North will be our hosts to point out interesting features of the terminal, both old and new. In addition to the architectural and structural points to be visited, we hope to see various types of locomotives and car equipment. We will learn about upcoming plans, such as the LIRR East Side Access. There is always something going on at Grand Central.
Join us for a pleasant day of exploring one of New York’s architectural masterpieces. The tour will meet in the stationmaster’s office at 1:00 PM. You can have lunch before the tour (on your own) at one of the many restaurants in the lower-level Dining Concourse, or on the balconies. The stationmaster’s office is located under the West Balcony on the main level, next to the NY Transit Museum store. In anticipation of the possible need for security clearance for all attendees, please make certain to have a photo ID in your possession.
