The Baltimore Weekend was attended by 25 people. We spent Saturday afternoon at the National Capital Trolley Museum. The Courtyard New Carrollton hotel was very nice and only a few blocks from the Washington Metro. Several members rode the Metro into Washington for dinner on Saturday night. Sunday began with a lovely buffet breakfast at the hotel, followed by a surprise visit to the Amtrak 40th Anniversary Display at Baltimore Penn Station. We then had successful visits to the B&O Railroad Museum and the Baltimore Streetcar Museum, followed by dinner at the Inner Harbor. Everyone had a great time.
The N.Y. Division of the ERA is pleased to announce a Summer weekend excursion to various rail museums in the Baltimore area on May 21-22. This trip is being jointly sponsored by our friends at the New York Railroad Enthusiasts. We are planning the following stops:
We expect a pretty full schedule, so there will not be any time to explore on your own, except for Saturday evening after checking in at the hotel.
Our Coach Tours chartered bus will leave promptly at 8:00 am from the public city bus stop for the M16 on 8th Avenue, just south of West 41st Street, across the street from the Port Authority Bus Terminal. This will be the only departure point. It is expected that the bus will return home on Sunday at approximately 10:45 PM.
Our hotel for Saturday evening will be the AAA 3-diamond Courtyard New Carrollton in Landover, Md. Hotel arrangements are included in the price of the trip. Although this hotel will cost somewhat more than previous hotels used on our weekend trips, it has the distinct advantage of being within walking distance of WMATA’s New Carrollton Metro Station. The number of rooms we have reserved is limited, so we advise you to book this trip as early as you can. In any event, this form must be received by us on or before May 10, 2011.
The ERA Baltimore Weekend is only $175 per person, double occupancy, or $220 per person for single occupancy. Please join us for a special trip to the rail museums in the Baltimore area. The ticket prices above include your charter bus transportation (including driver gratuity), hotel room, museum admissions and breakfast on Sunday. Other meals are not included. For further updates and information, please call 201-684-9408. This trip operates rain or shine.
